Auction Enhancements

As we strive to increase our fundraising potential through the Big Red Auction, we are committed to finding ways to broaden our reach.  Last year, we expanded the auction to the online space (through eBay Giving Works), which netted very positive results.  The eBay online auction is back again with even more items available on a rotating basis.  We are introducing a new element to the online auction this year.  All classroom projects will be available via an internal online auction (through 32auctions) that will allow all families the opportunity to bid on and win their child's classroom project.  The classroom auction will start on Monday, Feb 25th and run through Sunday, March 10th (the day after the auction event).  In addition to our expansion online, we are also happy to introduce the Big Red Auction's first Fund A Need extension to the night's live auction.

Introducing Our Auctioneer

Fladeboe Auctions

Auctioneer Colonel Dave Nelson grew up on a farm in west central Minnesota.  Being the only boy in a family with five girls, he worked hard and was occasionally rewarded by being allowed to attend farm and household auctions.  He called it his “dad time.”  After more than 34 years of teaching and 26 years of coaching, Dave retired in the fall of 2004 and in the spring of 2005 attended World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. He has been doing fundraising auctions since then and enjoys interacting with people and using his classroom skills as part of his auctioneering style.  He and his wife (of more than 38 years) Jan enjoy traveling and doing volunteer work.  Their daughter and son are also both teachers.

Fladeboe Auctions is a second-generation, family-owned business specializing in charity fund raising and agricultural land auctions.  Siblings Glen, Kimberly and Kristine (all auctioneers) are passionate about carrying on the family business their father Dale started in 1978 in Willmar, Minnesota.  Today, Fladeboe Auctions is one of the largest benefit auction companies in the Midwest. The company considers it a privilege to have helped more than 190 non-profit and educational organizations raise over $10.3 million in 2012.
