The St. Ed's Running Club
We are looking for St. Edward students who are interested in running in the Big Red Run 5K. Get in shape and build confidence by registering for the new St. Edward running club. The club is open to St. Edward students (both boys & girls) in grades 3-6. If you have a 2nd grader that is interested in enrolling, we ask that you participate/volunteer with your child. Cost per student is $60 for 7 sessions. Running Club fee does not include the 5K run registration. Please register for the run separately. Cost will cover healthy snacks for the kids and program materials. All proceeds will go directly to St. Edward School.
7th/8th Graders: Run, help and supervise and earn 5 service hours (no registration cost for 7th/8th graders). Use the volunteer link below to sign up for service hours.
For 7-weeks leading up to the Big Red Run 5K, we will be meeting every Monday from 3-4 p.m. in the lower church. We’ll be running outside around the neighborhood. Students must have gym shoes. Running Club will start the Monday right after Spring Break, April 4th. The race is May 21st.
We will be meeting in the lower church and will be running outside every chance we get. If the weather is bad, we will still meet! We will make the best of it and still try to get a few laps inside.
Why run? Besides the obvious health benefits, there is evidence that exercise helps students learn, focus better and gain self-esteem. Plus, Running Club members will get special recognition at the 5K and will lead off the 5K run!
Parents/Students, interested in helping in the after-school running group, even just for one run please sign up now!
